Freedom Friday: A Guide to More Conscious Shopping (and Being)
Yep, I realize it’s Saturday, not Friday. And this post is a bit different than usual.
With all the buzz about shopping this weekend, I put together this short collection of one event and a few special deals that will help you do some good for yourself and for the world.
As tomorrow is my birthday, I’ll be taking the rest of the week off from blogging to do some deep reflection on my life, past, present, and future. I look forward to catching up with you the week of December 5th!
• November 30: Food for All!
The Food for All Summit is a one-day virtual event empowering you with practical tools and inspiration to make a difference in solving world hunger.
You’ll hear inspiring leaders like Marianne Williamson, John Robbins, Andrew Harvey, representatives from Save the Children, Oxfam, and other organizations who are leading the charge to solve world hunger.
The summit takes place on Wednesday, November 30. You can call in on your phone, listen from your computer, or download the recordings and listen whenever you want.

• Work, Travel, Create Freedom!
I love Chris Guillebeau’s “Unconventional Guides” – they are fantastic resources for creating work that supports your freedom. Chris runs a sale on these guides only once a year, and it’s happening now until this Monday. If you enter the code CRANBERRY you can receive 15% off of any of his products, including the Empire Building Kit. I will happily vouch for the quality and usefulness of everything that Chris creates.
• Do You Know a Small Nonprofit in Need of Marketing Help?
Here’s my own very first digital product – it’s called “Fully Engaged!” and it’s designed to help small nonprofits inspire their supporters (and potential supporters) to get more involved in their cause. If you work at a small nonprofit, or know someone who does, Fully Engaged! might be of benefit to you. I’m offering it for an introductory 25% discount until this Wednesday, November 30.
• Socially Conscious Holiday Shopping
Over on my other blog, The Jizo Chronicles, I’ve put together this guide to holiday shopping that can make a positive difference in the lives of others. It’s filled with great gift ideas like the 2012 Tibetan Nuns Project calendar and fair trade chocolate bars from Equal Exchange.
