Freedom Friday: 5/6 Resource Round-Up

on May 6, 2011 in Uncategorized | 2 comments

Most Fridays, I put together this ‘resource round-up’ of news, events, and articles that I hope will nourish and inspire, and support you in living a liberated life. If you have suggestions to share with other readers, please post in the comment section.

Spirit

Inspiring Women Summit
The Inspiring Women Summit
is a free virtual event that brings together amazing women from all over the world. This is a great opportunity to hear from speakers like Jean Shinoda Bolen, Geneen Roth, and Lynne Twist (author of The Soul of Money) who are building a global movement of women committed to making a difference. If you can’t make the live calls, you can download the recordings and listen to them on your own time. The Summit starts this Saturday, May 7, and you can sign up here.

Aging as a spiritual practice
Buddhist teacher Lew Richmond describes a spiritual practice as “paying attention to the things that really matter.” In this short video, Lew talk about how aging presents us with an opportunity for spiritual growth. There’s a lot of gentle wisdom in his words for those of us who realize we’re getting older and we want to make the most of the time we have on this planet.

Finances/Livelihood

Danielle Laporte is the manifestor of the Firestarter Sessions… one of the very best ways I know of to jumpstart your creative juices. But she also wrote one of my favorite blog posts on money, in which she covers “20 personal money perspectives & practices that took me most of my adult life to clarify and got me to a place of grooving prosperity.” Danielle’s writing comes straight from the soul, and is also full of really practical information. Definitely worth checking out if you’re working on becoming more empowered with your finances.

Banking Without Torment
This is a financial institution that most of you probably won’t be eligible for, but it’s so cool I just had to tell you about it. Ashoka Credit Union is a “strong, secure financial institution founded on the principle of banking without torment.” The guiding principle of Ashoka is to treat people and their money with mindfulness. Ashoka serves the national and international Shambhala Buddhist community and their family members.

The World We Live In

Possible Futures Film Contest
