Freedom Friday: 2/25 Resource Round-Up
Every Friday, I put together this ‘resource round-up’ of news, events, and articles that I hope will nourish and inspire you. If you have suggestions to share with other Liberated Life Project readers, please do post in the comment section.
Spirit
Finding Real Happiness
Sharon Salzberg is one of my favorite meditation teachers and authors — her new book, Real Happiness, has just been published. Sharon also has a great article on “12 Tips for Exploring Spirituality.” Her advice is down-to-earth and inspiring, all at the same time.
Gratitude
Every once in a while, I like to pull out this beautiful short video called “A Good Day” from Brother David Steindl Rast. If you’ve never seen it, you’re in for a real treat… if you’ve already seen it, try watching again… I don’t think it’s possible to be reminded of the importance of gratitude too many times.
Finances/Livelihood
How to Create Work that You Love
There are a couple of very good articles on the web this week about how to make the shift into self-employment (this is a topic close to my own heart and one that I wrote about in this post, “5 Steps to a More Liberated Way of Working”):
- Leo Babauta, author of the blog Zen Habits, offers some great advice here about how to create right livelihood.
- Career and business coach Val Nelson shares her perspective on “The Self Employment Leap of Faith.”
Creativity
201 Ways to Arouse Your Creativity
Katie Tallo, author of the blog Momentum Gathering, collected some of the most provocative secrets and tips from two dozen talented writers and put ‘em together in this fun list. Check it out if you need a boost of inspiration for your creativity.
The World We Live In
How to Use Technology With Mindfulness
Starting this Friday afternoon, February 25, you can watch the live stream of the second annual Wisdom 2.0 Conference, happening in Silicon Valley, California, this weekend. I attended last year’s event and it was fantastic gathering of people exploring “how we can live with deeper meaning and wisdom in our technology-rich age.” This year’s speakers include Buddhist teachers Roshi Joan Halifax and Jack Kornfield, Jon Kabat-Zinn, and Meng Tan, Head of Personal Growth at Google.

Thanks for dropping by, Katie! Yes, I love that video too… and try to watch it at least once a month to remind me what’s really important.
