Breathing In…
Summer is a perfect time to breathe more spaciousness into our lives. And that’s what I’m about to do with the Liberated Life Project and with my own life.
While it’s easy to feel a lot of pressure in the blog world to keep writing, no matter what, I’m listening to my inner voice and taking heed of the need for a pause. This site will go dormant over the next month for a few reasons:
1) I’ve just started some new work with my friends at Upaya Zen Center – I’m now serving as the director of community development and outreach there – and I want to give myself this next month to focus on settling into the role and carrying out that responsibility well.
2) August is the time for intensive training in the Upaya Buddhist Chaplaincy Program, which I direct and am also enrolled as a student. Another reason for some extra focus.
3) And finally, after seven months of existence, this seems like a wonderful time to invest in the Liberated Life Project. With the help of talented designer Anoki Casey, we’ll give this website a makeover (still keeping a clean look) and improve some of the features so it’s more user-friendly. Anoki designed my logo for Five Directions Consulting as well as the header for the Liberated Life Project.
This site continues to be a labor of love. If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read here so far and would like to support the project to continue and grow, I’d be most grateful for any contribution you’d like to offer. Just use the “Donate” button in the right side bar.
So for all of the above reasons, I won’t be posting here during the month of August. I look forward seeing all of you when I return in September with renewed inspiration. And I’ll unveil some more exciting developments for the Liberated Life Project at that time as well.

YES! Kudos to you for allowing yourself to take a pause from one thing to invest in another. August is the perfect time for a pause – I’m looking forward to one next week myself. Enjoy the spaciousness of this pause.

Have a perfect time away, Maia. Settling into your new job well! I just returned from a one week retreat and digital sabbatical and it was so restorative.

Thanks, Sandra! I can tell it’s time for a break when, in addition to all of the above reasons, I find myself more attached to the stats on this website than to the process of writing. It was feeling that way, just a bit, so time to breathe!
