Every Friday, I put together this ‘resource round-up’ of news, events, and articles that I hope will nourish and inspire you. (And I share some of my favorite photos that I can’t figure out where else to use on this site!) If you have suggestions to share with other Liberated Life Project readers, please do post in the comment section.
Spirit
Sacred Awakening
Sacred Awakening is a free tele-series starting March 9th, featuring 21 spiritual leaders including Alice Walker, Ram Dass, Jack Kornfield and Cheri Huber. This is a wonderful opportunity to listen to some of the most inspiring teachers of our time. If you can’t make the live calls, you can download the recordings and listen to them at your convenience.
You’ll also get access to the full library of previous recordings featuring Marianne Williamson, Robert Thurman, and more. Good stuff!
Real Happiness, continued…
Last week I noted Sharon Salzberg’s new book, Real Happiness. Sharon and my other favorite Buddhist teacher, Roshi Joan Halifax, are teaching a weekend retreat on this subject this April at Upaya Zen Center in Santa Fe, NM. Upaya is a beautiful place to attend a retreat – I know because I live right next door! – and Roshi and Sharon are incredible teachers. If you come, please let me know. I’d love to meet some Liberated Life Project readers in person!

How to Create Work that You Love, continued…
In last week’s Freedom Friday list, I shared a couple of resources to support more liberated ways of working. This week I came across one more from Pam Slim, author of Escape from Cubicle Nation: From Corporate Prisoner to Thriving Entrepreneur. Pam the poster girl for breaking free from oppressive job situations and doing work that you love.
Now she’s inviting people to join the Escape from Cubicle Nation Community. Members have access to videos, recordings, and articles from Pam and a group of experts on entrepreneurship and self-employment. Also included are coaching calls and networking opportunities. If you have your own business or are thinking of starting one and could benefit from this kind of support, this looks like an excellent resource. I plan to join.

Write from the Heart
This weekend retreat, taking place April 8 – 10 at Manzanita Village in Southern California, is led by an old friend of mine, Susan Moon. Sue is the author of a number of books, most recently the wonderful This is Getting Old: Zen Thoughts on Aging with Humor and Dignity. Sue is one of those rare writers who can make you laugh and cry in the same paragraph, and she’s a fantastic writing teacher.
The World We Live In
Eat Good Food, Make Friends, Empower Women
This is a very cool idea that I found out about this week, thanks to New York Times columnist and all-around good guy Nicholas Kristoff: “Dining for Women.” The idea is for women to organize a potluck together once a month, and then the money that would have been spent if you ate at a restaurant is sent to programs empowering women worldwide. This is truly engaged philanthropy, and tasty too. I’m into it! How about you?
